Starsky and Hutch
It doesn't really matter if you remember the mid-70s or not, or if you ever watched Starsky & Hutch on tv or not. This movie is just a silly time with our old buddies - Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. If you liked them in Zoolander, The Royal Tennenbaums or Meet the Parents, you'll still like them in this one. Neither of them really change character, they just *are* and you either like them or not. We happen to like them.
In this one there are a few jokes that go back to the tv show, but they're not important to understand. It's a Park Your Brain by the Door, laugh alot, eat your popcorn kind of movie.
Snoop Dogg does a very good (but different than the tv show) Huggy Bear. Fred Williamson is a good police captain, and Vince Vaughn plays a decent bad guy. His girlfriend is Juliette Lewis, which is a surprisingly small role for her but maybe times are hard or she just really wanted to be in this movie.
We were real pleased to see the original Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and the original Hutch (David Soul) show up in a good scene. Many of these remake movies don't pay homage to the role creators, but this one definitely does.
Laughs out loud - there were definitely 2, maybe more.
Overall rating - a 3 - FUN!
