Jersey Girl

I saw this one alone and I'm glad. I saved the additional expense of making someone sit through this one with me. I'm not a huge Ben Affleck (Paycheck) fan - if I were I most likely would have enjoyed this movie more. It has Jennifer Lopez in it a bit (Maid in Manhattan), and I'm not into the whole Bennifer thing either.

Here's what stunned me - there is a great deal of true sadness, enough to bring a tear or two to even hard core me. Yet it's sold as a cute little girl movie. Yet there is a great deal of graphic sexual discussion dealing with masturbation and porn. Yet it's sold as a cute little girl movie. Trust me on this one - don't take your own cute little girl to see this movie.

Raquel Castro plays Affleck's adorable little girl, and does a great job. Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings) is the love interest. I really liked her in LOTR, but really did not like her in this role. She seems to be trying really hard to be soft and sweet and young, but her words and actions are so slutty - it's a strange combo.

The only reason to go see this movie is George Carlin. I have enjoyed his rebellious, out-there humor since 1973 and he has grown as an actor. Every scene that had him in it was measurably better.

I have to give this one a 2 - Very forgettable, not that enjoyable and didn't make much sense to me.
