Friday Night Lights
I don't like football, but Robert played as a kid in the small town of Texarkana, Texas so this movie meant more to him than me I would say. It's the story of the town of Odessa, Texas and how crazily important football is the residents there - how it can shape or break entire lives just by how the kids perform during high school on the football team.
I didn't like alot of the football, and I hated the shaky handheld camera that it's shot with - BUT it is still a really great movie.
The funniest thing to see is Billy Bob Thornton (Alamo) and Lucas Black (Cold Mountain) together again. Last movie they shot together was Sling Blade and they both look like entirely different people now! Billy Bob is half his weight and not acting like a mentally challenged person, Lucas Black is so much more grown up - when you look at them now it's amazing to remember them both before! They both do outstanding jobs in this movie.
There are so many great acting jobs in this, but Tim McGraw really stands out. He's a surprise as one of the kids' overbearing overdemanding father. He's a big bully. McGraw does a great job. He is really branching out these days - first this and then a song on Nelly's album. Hmmm, not just country music anymore.
Pueblo Tinseltown was the theater - we gave this one an overall rating of 4.
