The Proposal

Yesterday we were back doing some more movie catch-up, and also getting out of the impossible heatwave. We slipped in to see 'The Proposal', even though it's been out for several weeks. It just seemed like a good time passer. It turned out to be actually a funny and enjoyable movie!

Sandra Bullock ('Miss Congeniality') stars with Ryan Reynolds ('X-Men Origins: Wolverine') in this interesting little comedy about unlikely love. She's a mean, cold, demanding boss lady, he's her scrambling assistant. She is about to be deported to Canada and lose her big position so she lies that the two of them are about to be married.

It's not an unfamilar idea, there are some of the already tried and done in this, and you will see the ending from a long way off, but it's still a fun film. The best parts of the movie are meeting Drew Paxton's (Reynolds) family in Alaska - Betty White, Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson. That casting alone made it worth the price of admission. Betty White is adorable and just glows in every scene.

Don't think too hard about this one, but if you want to smile and even chuckle a few times in a pleasant story, it's a good one to check out. I found myself thinking of a scene or two the next day - which is a good sign.

We give this a '3' - it was fun!

Our favorite movie gal Eden sold us our tickets with a smile, and we were happy to see Super-Manager Shane working very hard, as always! He served us up a big tub of fresh, hot popcorn (Pueblo Tinseltown has real butter now so no more of that yellow colored mystery grease - Thank goodness!) and some friendly words to go with it. I noticed they now sell little containers of Sprinkle Cheese to go on the popcorn, too! :) YUM! It all added up to a very positive and fun movie day!
