We looked forward to seeing 'Date Night', thinking it just couldn't go wrong. We love Tina Fey and love Steve Carell, and the trailers looked decent. But something falls flat.
The premise is pretty new, and the actors are wonderful, but it appears there is a great deal of ad libbing and roaming around looking for the next line. After the story idea gets announced, the rest of the movie doesn't seem to know what to do. What should have been and could have been hilarious just ends up feeling forced and uncomfortable. Tina Fey looks truly uncomfortable in many scenes.
It turns into an okay movie made with exceptional talent. You leave wondering what exactly went wrong there?
We gave this one a '2'. Pueblo Tinseltown was the place and I think we enjoyed the popcorn far more than the movie. Thank goodness they now sell the good Sprinkle Cheese!
