Alien vs Predator
It's Friday the 13th and this was the perfect movie to see today. Neither of us much cared about this one, we weren't thrilled over Predator nor Alien, so... but we did see Freddy vs Jason, and we do see most all of em, so we went.
We were not proven wrong. This movie has a really dumb premise. We entertained ourselves by doing what we usually do - lining up the order of the actors death - who would get it first and who would live to see AVP II. We got most of this one correct. It wasn't that hard to figure out.
The creatures are a grand parade of Effects, and they give a personality to one. It's a pretty surreal thing, but there ya go.
Sanaa Lathan (
Love & Basketball) stars in this and does a very good job. She looks strong, convincingly fearful and carries the movie very well. It's a big role for her.
Lance Henriksen (
Mimic) shows up in this one - Robert likes him as an actor, but he doesn't really have enough to do in this one we thought. He plays a good part, could be most any other actor playing it though.
When we left the theater I said "Boy there's gonna be a fist fight tonight on the Internet. All of the nerds will be fighting and it could get ugly. I can hear it now - "Aw he couldn't die when he was invisible!" "He lacerated the exoskeleton and there's no way that would happen!" "Oh yes it would be cause that was Alien Steel and everyone knows that will lacerate an exoskeleton in a heart beat!" Yes the fuel has been poured on the fire. And fear not, this one was left wide open for the sequel.
Good popcorn. And both of us agree that a Bad Movie seen together beats a good day anywhere else, so we gave this one a 2.
Travis and the nice folks at Pueblo Tinseltown were great!
