Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland
Vince Vaughn in small doses is fabulous. Just hilarious, very talented, great to watch. We loved him in Wedding Crashers, Dodge Ball, Made, among others. But he's like frozen concentrate orange juice - he needs to be diluted to be enjoyed. In Wedding Crashers, Owen Wilson provided the diution (and balance) effect. And in this movie, thankfully there are lots of comics and people around. At the beginning of the film you don't realize they are there, with the camera focused a little too much on Vaughn. But hey, it's his show. I guess he gets to hog the limelight just a bit.
This is a movie of a show. It's a behind the scenes look at a bunch of comics who got on a couple of buses and went across the US giving their comedy show.
Robert didn't really want to go at first and then thoroughly enjoyed it! After you get into it a bit the movie gets very good. The new comedians who are featured are all excellent (Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst, Sebastian Maniscalco) and Justin Long is along ( Dodge Ball, Jeepers Creepers, Herbie Fully Loaded, or the Macintosh commercials) but we don't see a whole lot of him, which is a shame.
Instead of this movie just being the live show put to film, it really goes into the back story of the comics. What their lives have been like and how that affects their comedy. It is done in a very skillful way so it's never boring and very touching.
We really enjoyed this one overall! Rating - 3 for FUN!
Popcorn was great, it was the afternoon and the theater was totally empty except for us.... oh wait I think Ed Robbins creeped in after it started. ;)
