December was a hectic month so I'm late getting this and the Mr. Fox review up - we actually saw those in late November. Armored was a movie neither of us had even heard of but we wanted to go see something that day and none of the big holiday movies were out yet. So by default we ended up at Armored.
Laurence Fishburne brought us in, just seeing that he was in it and Matt Dillon and Fred Ward we figured we'd give it a try. Going in with no expectation was good, it was a much better movie than we feared.
It's a group of armored truck security guards who pull a robbery - a scenario you've seen a thousand times and you think there's no new way they could possibly angle this. But there are some good twists and new angles. Fishburne and Dillon play good bad guys and the pacing of the whole thing was steady - no lags or boring bits we thought. Just a good, decent robber caper.
We give it a '3' - a fun movie day. Pueblo Tinseltown was in good form with friendly people and hot, fresh popcorn. I even bought some sprinkle cheese now that they sell it right at the concession stand. :) Don't need to smuggle mine in anymore.
