Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

We drove up to Colorado Springs to Kimball's Twin Peak to see this one - our favorite OLD theater with the fabulous popcorn, wonderful OLD building and really nice staff.

We like Jim Carrey alot, he reminds us of our son, Josh. Lots and lots of similarities with how these two look and act so he's always a joy to watch. That said, this is a really weird movie! It just is!

Go in ready to be patient. At first you will be confused but hang in there. Just watch and listen and wait for it. Sooner or later - OOOOHHH!!! and the light will come on! THEN it makes sense, and there is actually a POINT! Yes there is. It's a great point too.

Kate Winslet (the Titanic girl)is the female lead and does a really great job. She is not afraid to come off as nuts, adorable, cute, crazy, bitchy, all at once here. In other words - human.

Kirsten Dunst ( Spiderman)plays a lesser but very important role as the doctor's office worker, and Mark Ruffalo ( 13 Going on 30)plays a wonderful geeky tech sort of guy with questionable ethics - in other words very human as well. Elijah Wood ( Lord of the Rings) is a smaller role as another tech and is so wasted here. He could be .... anybody. Name an actor - yep that could be this guy in this role. Elijah brings nothing to it. I can think of dozens of other actors who would have been more interesting to watch play that part.

The plot centers around a person going to a place to get their memory erased so they can forget a bad relationship. It's a touch of science fiction, but not really. The office they go to is more like a lower rate doctor's office and not very sci-fi at all. It's handled very well - very business-as-usual.

It's a shame this movie didn't get released more widely. We found it at the above mentioned Independent theater. I guess the masses can't sit still and actually watch a whole movie without having it all spelled out for them. If you get a chance to see it - take the risk. It's a good movie.

Overall Rating - 4

Fabulous popcorn - we got refills! And they have free sprinkle cheese to go on top! This place got me started buying the sprinkle cheese at the grocery store to take with me now in my purse to the other theaters. :)\
